Bernalillo

Bernalillo is the Sandoval County seat, a town of about 9,000 on the Rio Grande where I-25 meets US 550, 20 minutes north of Albuquerque. Camino del Pueblo, the old Camino Real, is still the main street, and the Range Cafe has served breakfast there since 1992. Every August 9 through 11, Los Matachines dance through town for Las Fiestas de San Lorenzo, carried on since 1693. Across the river, Coronado Historic Site preserves the Kuaua Pueblo ruins and its kiva murals.

Housing runs from older adobe and frame homes off Camino del Pueblo to newer subdivisions and custom homes on acreage toward Placitas. Inventory stays thin at every price point. Two Rail Runner stations, Downtown Bernalillo and Sandoval County/US 550, make a car-free commute to Albuquerque or Santa Fe workable, and the county complex on Idalia Road keeps government jobs close. Santa Ana Pueblo's Hyatt Regency Tamaya and Twin Warriors Golf Club sit minutes away on US 550.
