Los Ranchos

Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is its own incorporated village, not an Albuquerque neighborhood. About 5,900 residents on 4.45 square miles, with a Board of Trustees that has held its own zoning authority since 1958. Much of the village sits under A-1 zoning at one home per acre, so you get irrigated pasture, acequia laterals, barns and old cottonwoods rather than curbs and cul-de-sacs. Rio Grande Boulevard carries the estates; 4th Street carries the commercial spine, now mid-revitalization.

Los Poblanos Historic Inn, a John Gaw Meem-designed 1932 estate on Rio Grande Boulevard, anchors the village's character with lavender fields and Campo restaurant; Casa Rondeña Winery pours nearby on Chavez Road. The Paseo del Bosque Trail runs along the western edge, and a Saturday growers' and art market fills Hartnett Park. Inventory stays thin: property here is tightly held and often trades quietly, so buyers should plan to wait for the right acre rather than choose among many.
